This morning, the student chefs from Richards Career Academy who won first place in HSC’s Cooking up Change healthy cooking contest boarded a plane for Washington, DC, where they will prepare the meal with White House Chef Sam Kass. Tomorrow, May 5, the meal will be served to more than 40,000 students across the nation and in the US House of Representatives cafeteria. Many thanks to all who made donations to make the students' trip possible!

Please join us in wishing the student chefs a wonderful trip to Washington and in contacting our Congressional leaders to make sure they eat the student-designed school lunch!
We're so proud of all the student chefs and their instructors, the team mentors, contest judges,and the Chicago Public Schools culinary program as a whole. Congratulations! What a great way to spread the message about improving and adequately funding our school food program.
