Congratulations to Montgomery County Public Schools (MPCS)!
In the Green Cleaning Awards sponsored by HSC, the Green Cleaning Network and American School & University magazine, MPCS earned the School District Grand Award for green cleaning.
In 1997, MPCS began going green by switching from an oil-based floor finish to a water-based finish. Since then, they've tested, selected and used only the highest-quality cleaning products. Energy-efficient scrubbers use only clean water to capture dust particles from hard floor surfaces, eliminating mops and buckets. High-speed burnishers replaced buffers that were more likely to spread dirt particles, and backpack vacuums increased productivity while cutting down on dust with a four-stage filtration system.
