Very true insight on the core muscles. The rectus abdominis is just one of the superficial muscles in the functioning core. It is not often that anyone seems to acknowledge the other core muscles, but I found it important to do so on my blog as well.
I created a video on youtube that explains all the muscles in the core as well if anyone is interested.

Stability is a really good way to train your core functionally. Good luck and keep your passion.
