Kudos to the creative, talented and wellness-minded parents of Madero Middle School!
The parents, who serve on an academic committee at the school, dedicated a portion of their recent meeting before Valentine's Day to creating healthy, pretty bouquets of fresh fruit and providing a model for integrating wellness into the classroom, into meetings, and into the culture of a school.
We were thrilled to see that messages of wellness had moved from the school's wellness committee to other groups at Madero, becoming a normal part of the school day for everyone who is a part of the school community -- from students to administrators, teachers and parent leaders. Parents in the Madero community are active in HSC's Parents United for Healthy Schools/Padres Unidos para Escuelas Saludables coalition as advocates for school wellness.Check out the healthy fruit bouquets:
Way to go, Madero parents!
