Chef Jill Houk, healthy cooking contest co-chair, believes that Cooking Up Change is a powerful tool to engage schools and communities. It raises awareness of healthy school lunches by giving participants a first-hand look at what it really takes to create a healthy meal on a budget. But just as importantly, the contest raises students' awareness of their own abilities as they experience the power of working toward a goal and making a difference.
