This forum is a cornerstone of the week-long series of events that HSC is co-hosting with the Office of Minority Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for National Minority Health Month. HHS has chosen to hold these events in Chicago to spotlight the city’s successful partnerships supporting healthy school environments for low-income minority students facing significant health disparities.
At the forum, we will hear about the latest research on the impact of health disparities on student achievement and will learn about what education leaders at the local and national level are doing to address these disparities and support student success.
Speakers include:
- Charles Basch, Richard March Hoe Professor of Health Education at Columbia University Teachers College
- Gail Christopher, Vice President of Program Strategy for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation
- Chicago Public Schools education policy leader
- U.S. Dept. of Education policy leader from Washington, DC
Mirtha Beadle, M.P.A. of the Office of Minority Health will introduce the forum and Rochelle Davis of Healthy Schools Campaign will serve as moderator.
We invite you to join us for this forum! Please register here by March 31.
Please note that pre-registration is required and space is limited. We encourage you to register as soon as possible.
