This summer, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation recognized Parents United for Healthy Schools at its national Food & Community Conference, the first such recognition the foundation has presented. W.K. Kellogg Foundation President Sterling K. Speirn spoke about the impact of parents’ remarkable work and the power of this community-level action to transform school environments.
“When it comes to education and healthy school environments, parents voices matter,” he said. “What’s happening with these parents and in Chicago is a model for change across the country.”
